These word problem cards are a great way to practice solving addition and subtraction word problems with your students. Each story problem is Valentine themed and represents an addition or subtraction equation within 10. These cards can be read aloud to a small group, or have your higher readers read along with you and solve. My students practice looking for key words like “more”, “altogether”, “in all”, and “have left”. I left a space on each card for a small illustration, and included a record sheet so students can organize their equations.
Print the word problems for each student in color, or in black and white on pink or red paper. Laminate, then cut them out, hole punch them and place them on a binder ring.
I print the record sheet in black and white, but you could print it in color and laminate it for your students to use with a fine tipped marker – save some paper!
I hope your students enjoy this center as much as mine do!
