This unit includes 27 Would You Rather cards and a writing prompt for students to complete. The cards allow the user to play two different game variations. In the first version, the students draw a card from the top of the deck and either the student or the teacher reads the prompt. Prompts have two options for the student to choose from. The student uses critical thinking skills to decide which answer to choose and then provides reasoning to support their choice. Ask each member of the group to state which option they would choose and have them explain their choice as well. After all members of the group have made a choice for this prompt, have another student draw a card and repeat the process. Play continues until all cards have been used.
A writing prompt is included in the pack as well. To use the writing prompt, have the students choose a Would You Rather card, then have them complete the writing prompt for that card. The students must state their answer as well as the answer they did not choose and give reasons to support their answer choice.
Alternative Use: Use Would You Rather cards with any board game you already have. Before taking a turn in the board game have the student choose a Would You Rather card and answer the question to practice their target skill (i.e., articulation, grammar, etc.).
The only material needed to complete this activity in addition to the items included in the download is a pencil.
