Celebrate Valentine's Day & Anti-Valentine's Day with authentic rigorous mathematics!
In this 32 page document you will be given a mapping to the Content Standards, an outline for how to implement the project, and handout resources for students to use. This project includes three separate assignments. Pick and choose. Mix and match!
-- In “Quit Playing Games with My Heart” students will practice with the area of equation of a kite and circle to calculate areas of a special kind of hearts.
-- In “A Piece of My Heart” students must find their partner/soul mate and calculate the area and perimeter of both of their hearts. . Students will be given parts to two different hearts and it's up to them and their ruler to find their perfect match. They will write the Area and Perimeter on one side and a Valentine or Anti-Valentine card to each other.
-- In “Heart of a Champion” which will ask them to design, build and measure a 3-D heart. Whichever team can construct a heart with the greatest volume is the official winners of Valentine's Day!
EVERYTHING IS ALIGNED TO THE COMMON CORE! YAY!
