Use this with your current events unit during Valentine’s Day or for Earth Day. Have students read newspapers and watch the news. Students pick an event as inspiration to give a little love to someone/somewhere in the world I ask that they say what that ‘love’ would be (something tangible or not-up to you). Coats to the homeless? Books to children who have none? Take it further and do a service project or just have students become aware of different hardships and difficulties around the world. Inspiration for this product came from this article. I like to read parts of this article to help spark ideas:
1. Color a map showing where in the world they would send their ‘love’
2. Write a paragraph explaining their tangible or fanciful gift of love. I ask for a paragraph with a topic sentence, 3 details and a concluding sentence. You can have students write more if you wish. You would have to have extra copies of the lined heart paper for students to write their good copy on.
3. Draw a picture that illustrates what they wrote about.
4. Color a “title page” with the saying “All the World Needs Now is a Little Love”
