Speech Language Pirates

This language pack features a variety of listening & describing tasks:

following conditional directions, exclusionary listening, listening for details, written descriptions, describing verbally, and negation.

Following Conditional directions: There are plenty of different monsters for every student to choose their own, unique character - 10 total! Read the given prompts or come up with your own. The directions can be one part ("If your monster is wearing a hat, give me a thumbs up.") or two parts ("If your monster is wearing a hat, give me a thumbs up. If not, smile.").

Describing (written or verbally): Use the same ten monsters from the first task and encourage students to give detailed descriptions. There are two writing worksheets - one blank and one scaffolded. Then, students can read their descriptions aloud while the others try to guess which is being described.

Listening for details/Exclusionary listening: There are 4 mats with 6 pictures and a list of details for each - 24 adorable characters in all! Read each description while students use process of elimination to decide which character you are talking about.

***Cut apart the mats to make things easier or more difficult, depending on the level of your students.

This is a follow-up to my Gingerbread Language Pack: Listening & Describing. If you enjoyed that, you'll LOVE this! There is even more to listen to and describe!
