Here are 10 multi-step challenging Valentine-themed math task cards for students to solve. Some of them take some careful reading to solve correctly.
Included are cards for students to write their answers and keep track of their progress. I’ve also included an answer key!
"These were a perfect lead-in to our class party! Thanks." ~Barbara M.
Want to keep teaching standards-based math on Valentines’ Day and have your students love it? These cards will engage your intermediate grade students (Grades 4-5).
You could have students work in pairs or triads to solve each of the problems. Another option is to put these task cards and a pile of the answer cards at a center for students to rotate through with other Valentine centers. Students could earn points at each center depending on how much they got accomplished.
- Print out the task cards on cardstock or paper, cut and laminate to use year-after-year.
- Print the answer cards (enough so each student has one) on paper and cut.
- Print the answer key just for you!
- Pop it all in a zip top bag ready for your center.
When ready to launch the tasks, make sure students have access to whiteboards or scratch paper to do all their math work.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
