This is a graphic organizer for students to begin to explore value scales, tints, shades, warm and cool colors, and mixing paints.
There are definition at the top of the handout and an area for students to paint a value scale. The graphic organizer shows where a student should paint the color they choose (right from the bottle) and where to paint sections as they create tints and shades.
I usually use this as an introduction activity to a unit of value and painting. I print this handout of watercolor paper or another heavy paper so students can paint directly on the handout. Have students complete this graphic organizer and staple it in their sketchbooks for reference as you work.
