This is a 3 part project spanning multiple class sessions. It familiarizes students with shopping vocabulary and gives them an authentic reason to use the preterite and direct object pronouns. It can be used with any curriculum, but it pairs nicely with Realidades chapters 7A and 7B. The parts of the project are:
1. Make a poster of a store (group)
2. Go shopping at the stores the class has created (individual)
3. Write a paragraph about your shopping trip using preterite and direct object pronouns (individual)
The students really like creating the stores, but they have even more fun going shopping! By the time they have to write the paragraph, they are very familiar with the vocabulary and they have experiences to draw from.
This download includes all the project descriptions, a chart to give students for part 2, examples for parts 1 and 3, and rubrics to assess parts 1 and 3. The files are open for editing so you can change the project according to your needs, or copy and paste instructions into a PowerPoint to display to your students.
This project can easily span 3 class days!
