I use this assessment with my fourth graders when teaching the graphic novel "Vampires and Cells". I love using this in my library because it fits in smoothly with my graphic novel unit, has a Halloween theme, and reviews a science standard as well! I access this graphic novel through the myON site, but I am sure it is available in other places.
This assessment has students view a screenshot from the graphic novel "How the Leopard Got Its Spots", courtesy of Stone Arch Books, and write the letters beside each speech bubble in the order that the reader would read them. It also features a spot for students to write what they learned from the text or already know about cells.
