This ~15 minute interactive biography of Vincent Van Gogh is a great alternative to an art slideshow. My students used to lose focus pretty quickly with our art Power points - now even my harder-to-hook kids look forward to viewing famous art! This biography is aimed for upper elementary aged children and focuses on the common traits of Post-Impressionist paintings. Read it together as a class or individually on devices and 'interact' with Van Gogh himself as he personally tells your students about his life, his brother Theo, and some of his work. Built in to the story are questions that test your class's comprehension as well as pauses for art discussion or writing prompts.
