This real-life research project will engage students as they read, research, write, speak, listen and create. (SAVE! This is part of my Engaging the Disengaged Bundle)
Vaping has become increasingly popular with our teens, so it’s important that they understand the facts about the activity. This unit is designed to have them look at the facts surrounding e-cigarette use and to use those facts to come to a conclusion about their safety. Hopefully they will see that they are an effective tool to use if one wants to quit smoking; however, they should not be used by most teens as there are health risks involved. Also, because e-cigarettes are relatively new, we still don’t know the their true long-term effects.
For this project students will research the pros and cons of e-cigarettes. Depending on the needs of your class, you can choose directed research questions or allow your students to do their own research. Regardless, links are provided that they can use as a starting point.
After research and discussion, you can assign one or more of the assignments provided: a formal response, a letter to the editor, a presentation, a poster campaign, a social media campaign or a brochure. Handouts and rubrics are provided for each option.
This product contains:
