Product Description

This pack is slightly different from my previous math center packs. Instead of one complete set of differentiated math centers, it is actually two separate packs. Both are still differentiated.

The following packs have been bundled together:

December-Math-Craftivities

Differentated Problem Solving for Winter

The following activities are included in each pack.

December Math Crafts-December can be a wild and woolly month in the classroom. The imminent appearance of Santa has everyone in high gear! I created this pack to provided creative and engaging crafts that can also meet the standards. Let’s make those standards FUN! These craftivities would be perfect math extension projects, independent work in guided math, or for math centers. Included in this pack are 4 activities:

*Geometric Gifts- Students great geometric riddles.

*Pretty Poinsettia Numbers- Students complete a variety of activities based on one number.

*Mistletoe Math- A problem solving craft. Students solve one word problem. Different levels of difficulty are included for differentiation (adding two digits with no regrouping, adding two digits with regrouping in the ones, two digits with regrouping with tens and ones, adding three digits with no regrouping, adding three digits with regrouping in the ones, adding three digits with regrouping in the tens and ones).

*Measuring Mr. Penguin- A measuring activity to the nearest inch or centimeter.

This pack is slightly different than my other monthly math packs. This one revolves mostly around a few standards (problem solving) and contains several different activities to teach the different styles of problem solving situations. This pack contains three types of activities: folding books, math journals, and math centers that can be completed in partners or independently. All math center activities include a recording sheet for student accountability.

Writing to Explain- This is a flip book that can be used to teach students how to solve word problems and then write to explain how the problem is solved. The flip book can then be glued into a math notebook for reference.

Building Our Way to Problem Solving- Seven flip flap books for math notebooks are included. The flip flap books are broken into steps to model for students how two step problems can be broken down and solved. There are 3 one step problems and 4 two-step problems included. A checklist for how to solve and write to explain is also included.

Word Problems for Math Journals- There are three word problems written for each of the problem solving situations for adding and subtracting as outlined by the Common Core Standards. The problems are written for regrouping and then the same problems are included without regrouping. These are the situations included:

• add to- result unknown

• add to-change unknown

• add to start unknown

• take from-result known

• take from- change unknown

• take from- start unknown

• put together/ take apart- total unknown

• put together/ take apart- both addends unknown

• put together/ take apart- addend unknown

• compare- difference unknown

• compare- bigger unknown

• compare-smaller unknown

Unlocking Word Problems Math Center- Students put together puzzles with word problems on them and solve.

Decorating with Word Problems- Students solve five word problems and then create a Christmas tree craft. Students write the answers to the word problems on the ornaments. Three versions are included: regrouping, without regrouping, and with and without regrouping.

Do You Want to Build A Snowman- Students roll a die and solve the corresponding word problem. As students solve the problems they collect pieces of a snowman. When students finish all the word problems, they put the snowman together to make a craftivity! Two versions are included: one step word problems and two step word problems.
