These 5 math centers were created for students to complete during math workshop. All five centers are aligned to the second grade Common Core Standards. Each game can be completed independently by students and a recording sheet is included with every activity to hold students accountable for their work.
*Rainbow of Riddles: Students will read the geometry riddles and use the reference sheet to figure out which 2D or 3D shapes being described. Please note this center is not differentiated.
*St. Patrick’s Day Shapes: Students will choose a card with a 2D or 3D shape on it and then match it to the recording sheet. Students will then use the picture on the card to help him or her fill out the recording sheet, record angles, sides, faces, edges, and vertices. Students will also use the picture on the card to draw the shape themselves. Please note this center is not differentiated.
*Golden Time: Students will choose a card and read the time on the clock. Then students will record the time in the matching box on the recording sheet. Please note this center is not differentiated.
*Lucky Coins and Cash: Students will choose a card with a money word problem and solve. Then students will record the answer on the recording sheet. Two versions of this game are included. Please note the problems are the same, only the presentation is different. The two versions of the cards are:
•Money word problems without pictures of the coins
•Money word problems with pictures of the coins
*Coins and Clovers: Students will choose a card with coins on shamrocks. Students will then and count the coins and record the answer on the recording sheet. Please note this center is not differentiated.
All the centers are in black and white to save on printing costs. Color covers with directions for the games are included if you like that extra punch of color! I have printed all of my games on colored copier paper and laminated them to make them more durable. I have cut up all the games and stored them in Ziplock bags so I can lay them flat in a box for storage.
