I created to use this with my kinder class. There are a few writing prompts to go with the story Tops and Bottoms. The math and literacy activities are centered around vegetables and plants.
-Do a taste test with broccoli (tops) and carrots (bottoms) and have students tally and graph with their table partners.
-4 math garden journal prompts (adding and subtracting)
-flower book (seed, sprout, flower)
-"What is it?" reader
-numbers 11-20 before and after center
-vegetables (can, have, are) student sheet
-carrot measuring sheet
-vegetable observation sheet (I bring in vegetables for the students to use their five senses to write about and sketch.)
-Compare and contrast carrot vs. corn student sheet
-hare vs. hair (two meaning words)
I hope you find this useful! My students seemed to really enjoy and learn something from it! :)
