Veggieville Part 2 is the second in a series of computer-based independent learning activities designed to help students identify and spell the names of common and not so common vegetables. The eight vegetables covered in Part 2 are beets, radishes, potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, green beans, and cauliflowers. The program provides an interactive, fun method of independent learning. Student interaction is provided in each step of the learning process accompanied by audio instructions and feedback.
This is the learning sequence for each vegetable:
1. Students use the mouse to move letters to spell the vegetable name with the help of a label which is displayed on the screen. They have as many tries as they need.
2. Students use the mouse to move letters to spell the vegetable name without any help. If they don’t get it after the first try, the proper spelling is displayed to help them. They have as many tries as they need.
3. After they finish the practice session, the students are “tested” by having them use the keyboard to type the name of each vegetable next to its picture. They have as many tries as needed.
