A choose-your-own-story style book that provides opportunities to target the phonological process of velar fronting. The book offers a fun way to naturally use the velar sounds /k/ and /g/ in the context of reading a story or responding to questions/prompts about a story. The student makes decisions that let them create their own path.
The text contains many opportunities to use /k/ and /g/ in initial, medial, and final word positions. The pictures also allow for extra opportunities to ask questions and talk about the characters. (For example, on page 2, the cow has sticKy choColate on its face. Maybe it needs a napKin? On page 11, there are rocKets, popCorn, and a buG hidden on the page. Will the Cat Catch the Goldfish on p.12? etc...) You could even add extra pages to the book and help your student come up with ideas for more adventures.
Examples of words used throughout the book include: cow, goat, chicken, girl, yucky, cake, key, bigger, coat, cold, garden, sugar, bacon, taco, cookie, snake, wiggle, catch, goodbye, and more!
