This is a set of PowerPoint notes I created for my high school physical science classes. They are also appropriate for high school physics classes. When purchasing this file, you will receive a 33 slide PowerPoint document.
This note set includes: displacement, speed/velocity, calculating velocity, calculating acceleration, graphing velocity, graphing acceleration, forces, force pairs, friction, Newton's Laws, and momentum.
This set also includes 3 embedded videos: "Speed and Velocity" by They Might Be Giants, "Phonebook Friction" from MythBusters, and a video that shows high school science students demonstrating conservation of momentum. it also includes a link to a conservation of momentum clip from "The Matrix".
When I use these notes in class, I use them over the span of a week or two. I will only cover a section at a time. These are not meant to be taught in one class period, but as an entire unit.
These notes are tied to the Physical Science Georgia Performance Standards:
SPS8. Students will determine relationships among force, mass, and motion.
a. Calculate velocity and acceleration.
c. Relate falling objects to gravitational force
d. Explain the difference in mass and weight.
