PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

General description:

This verb conjugation game includes 10 activities focusing on the preterite tense, direct objects, and direct object pronouns as presented in chapter 3A of Realidades 2. Verbs are divided into regular, irregular, and !Un Poco De Todo¡—all the regulars and irregulars mixed together.

The computer randomly chooses a verb and provides various prompts to students for them to conjugate the verb and manipulate the direct object and direct object pronoun when appropriate. A more detailed description of the activities is found below.

If this is your first experience with this product, thanks for your purchase. If you are a returning customer, this product has seen serious upgrades since its original publication in 2015. The newest version was released on November 15, 2016.

This activity is great for reinforcing the preterite tense endings. My struggling students say it helps them learn the endings and demonstrate a desire to do it several days in a row.

All activities can be either automated with an adjustable timer or you can use the manual mode to choose your own pace. Start by inviting your students to calmly shout out answers to the questions they see as a big group. Then perhaps have the computer randomly draw a student’s name and have him/her alone answer the question.

You can load the names of your students (up to 40) in the last four slides. If you have a student who is absent, you can mark him absent and his name will not appear. Displaying individual names is a great way to keep students on their toes. You can enter the names one at a time or load them up from a text file—very handy if you intend to purchase additional products in this series!

This PowerPoint was designed on a Windows Operating System. If you are using PowerPoint for Mac, some functions may not work as expected.--for example--loading names from a text file.

Detailed description of the activities:

Activity #1, students are given a verb, its translation, and a person. Students are expected to correctly conjugate the verb in the preterite tense. You may choose to not show the translations of the verbs for any activity by adjusting the settings.

Activity #2 students are given a person and a verb conjugated in the present. They are expected to change the verb from the present to the preterite for the same person.

Activity #3 students are given a person and a verb conjugated in the preterite. They are expected to change the verb from the preterite to the present for the same person.

Activity #4 students are given a person and a verb that is conjugated in the preterite—students will change the verb to match a second subject. They will also see the infinitive and the translation of the verb.

Activity #5, students are given prompts to make a sentence in the preterite tense. They will see a subject, a verb, the translation of the verb, and two randomly chosen words from the chapter. If the words chosen don’t seem appropriate for the verb displayed, you may press the arrows to draw a new word. In the beginning I set the timer to 60 seconds. By the end of the chapter students often need only 30 seconds.

Activity #6: Students are given a verb, a translation of the verb, a subject and a direct object. Students are to make the sentence, replacing the direct object with the direct object pronoun and putting it in the correct place.

Activity #7: This activity is similar to #6. Students will get the same information as above and make a question, putting the subject, verb, and D.O.P. all in the correct order.

Activity #8: Students are given a sentence in the preterite tense, including a direct object. They will replace the direct object with the D.O.P. and put everything in the correct order. I have included the option to color code the direct object and D.O.P. This setting can be changed by clicking Menú from any of the activity slides.

Activity #9: This activity is similar to #8. Students will get the same information as above and make a question, putting the subject, verb, and D.O.P. in the correct order. The option to color code is available in this activity also.

Activity #10: Students will see a question with a direct object. They will respond to the question with a direct object pronoun. The challenge here is to put everything in the correct order while figuring out the correct subject and the new verb conjugation. The option to color code the direct object and D.O.P. is available for this activity.

In order to use this PowerPoint correctly you must enable macros on your computer. When you open the presentation, near the top of the screen you will see a question asking for your permission to run the code which enables this PowerPoint to function.
