Students work in "pairs" to identify which verb tense (simple, perfect, progressive, and progressive perfect) is being used in each sentence. Within pairs, each student will get a separate set of task cards. Independently, students read the sentence on each task card and identify the verb tense. After, students compare their answers with those of their partners. Even though students have different sentences, the verb tenses are the same. If their answers don’t match, students should read both of their cards and work together in order to determine the verb tense.
