Study verbals - gerunds, participles, infinitives - with mentor sentences! This grammar activity pulls sentences from the book The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. This activity focuses on working with verbals. Instead of using verbs, verbals allow manipulations of meaning and refocus of a sentence. These activities help students see the connection between grammar and writing.
This activity is two worksheets of student activities (keys included) with sentences pulled from the loved book The Hunger Games. The worksheets cover infinitives, gerunds, and participles.
→ 15 sentences from chapter 12 that require students to identify gerunds and infinitives. Students must then rewrite the sentences, using the verbal in a different way than it was originally used.
→ 15 sentences from chapter 13 that require students to rewrite sentences using participles.
Answer keys are included to help you with this grammar lesson.
