Verbal Reasoning is the ability to reason, problem solve and logically work through concepts and problems. Thinking with Language: Verbal Reasoning Activities is a series of 4 card decks that focuses on increasing logical, well thought out verbal responses to explain cause and effect for everyday problems, answer questions that require logical sequence, find word connections and solve riddles. The activities encourage students to become active participants in the development of their own semantic networks by focusing on key critical thinking skills including: observation, analysis, interpretation reflection and explanation. A cooperative game format, Field & Track Team Championship, is used as a motivational and fun way to practice important verbal reasoning skills.
Thinking with Language: Verbal Reasoning Activities is designed for students from grade three through grade six. Goals and objectives can be easily adapted to meet individual student needs while conforming to benchmark standards. The materials can be used for either small group or individual sessions in resource, classroom or clinic settings.
