This file contains 16 task cards to help students determine the difference in action verbs, helping verbs, and linking verbs.
The students will read the sentence on the task card. They will choose an action verb, a helping verb, or a linking verb to go in the blank. Then they will write the verb in the box on their recording sheet. Then they will circle action, helping, or linking on the recording sheet to show they know the difference.
These task cards can be used in a small group, as independent work, or in a literacy center. Just print out, laminate, and cut out the cards.
These cards can also be used to play the game “Scoot”. Recording sheets can be graded or checked as a class together.
Recording sheet and answer key are included.
These task cards make great practice for English Language Learners.
