One activity is a story retell using clipart from the story. There are 3 creative writing activities. These were a lot of fun to write with my 1st graders! They were super creative and loved exploring the different ideas of what the caterpillar might do. One is if the caterpillar wasn't hungry what would he do? Some answers my students gave were play basketball, on Sunday take a nap because he was so tired, take flying lessons, go to Butterfly School, go shopping and so on. Another activity is the caterpillar ate too much and now cannot walk. Again they said funny things like roll downstairs and play Wii, sit on the couch and talk to their friends on their cell phone. With the first 3 activities (the retell and 2 of the creative writing activities) they are printed to be little half booklets. The story retell has clipart to use. The creative writing booklets have room for the students' drawings. The last activity is printed on an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet and students tell what they would like to eat each day if they were the hungry caterpillar.
