5. Veterans Day Patriotic Idiom Grammar Review

Students will discover the hidden idiom by identifying different parts of speech (i.e. irregular plural nouns, adverbs of frequency, conjunctions, subject pronouns, comparative adjectives, irregular past tense verbs and affirmative present tense verbs etc.) After identifying the words according to their parts of speech, they will then follow the directions and color them accordingly. If students don’t have colored pencils they can cross out the words instead. The blocks that remain will reveal the idiom “Freedom isn’t free”. Finally, they need to write a sentence using the idiom correctly. They can discuss the meaning with their teacher.

6. Veterans Day Scramble:

Students will unscramble common Veterans Day vocabulary words.
