This is an educational power point on Veterans Day. It will teach your students the importance of the holiday and why we honor veterans. They will get to learn about the branches of military and 3 real veterans in which you can have your class write thank you cards directly to them! -Instructions included in the download. It also comes with fun pennant coloring pages to decorate with as well as writing prompts.
I kept the content basic enough for 1st graders to understand but this could easily be used by 6th graders as well!
***A portion of proceeds from this product will be donated to a Veteran charity.

⭐ September 11 - Patriot Day - Power Point Lesson & Activities Pack!
Included in this download:
-26 slide power point- Covers who veterans are, branches of the military, why we honor them, discussion questions, military facts, meet 3 veterans.
***Included in the download is a P.O. Box address where I will pick up any thank you cards mailed to me from your class and get them to the Veterans or their living family members. I will return via email a photo of them receiving your thank you cards! Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions!
-Veterans Flag Pennants- There are 5 different pennants to choose from for your students to color. They would look great as a banner in your hallway, on your door, or in your classroom!
Thank you cards- You can choose from color or black and white. You can choose to fold the pages in half and just have them write the cards that way or you can cut off the blank side and glue it to a piece of construction paper like I did in my photo. I included a brainstorm page and a practice sentence page so they can make a polished card to send to a veteran!
Veterans Day Brainstorm & Writing Prompts- I find it helpful for students to brainstorm what they have learned in one or two words before transferring their ideas onto their writing prompt. They tend to not get so overwhelmed that way! I you have a higher grade level they may not need the brainstorm page. Regular lined and primary lined options on all writing papers included.
Branches of the Military Graphic- Students can fill this page out during the power point or after in a center to learn more about the military.
