This is a social studies activity with a ‘connect four’ type of twist. Basically, the students research any five questions in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonal) to complete the game board. It is an excellent activity for Veteran's Day as it can be completed individually, with a partner, or with a group.
There are seven different game board to provide a variety between the students. Not all boards have the same questions, so included is a page that includes all questions divided by category for your convenience. Categories are Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Wars, Branches of the Military, Trivia, and Organizations.
Included are websites that can be used to obtain the answers. The background on the game board correlates to the background on each of the websites. The game boards can be used like a webquest and can be completed more than once.
Usually the students just respond on notebook paper but included is also a paper that students can place their answers to the questions if needed.
