Veteran's Day is a time to honor our veterans for their military service. To celebrate this holiday and honor our veterans, students are able to create a military pennant with this document. Each military pennant included in this document is hand-drawn. These military pennants are a great addition to any classroom/bulletin board to honor our veterans.
Included in this document:
Pages 1-5: Colored examples of the 5 military branch pennants
Pages 6-10: The 5 military branch pennants (black and white outline--without the branch name on the top of the pennant)
Pages 11-15: The 5 military branch pennants (black and white outline--with the branch name on top of the pennant)
Page 16: Star (have students leave the star white and color the background blue to represent part of our flag)
Page 17: Stripes (have students color every other stripe red to represent part of our flag)
Page 18: Blank Pennant
To create their pennant:
*First make copies of either the military pennants with the branch names or without the branch names.
*Have students choose a pennant to color the front (can show examples of what each military branch logo looks like colored).
*On the back of the pennant, have students draw a picture of what Veteran's Day means to them or have them write a note thanking a U.S. Veteran.
*Once students are finished, place the pennants on a string and hang in your classroom (so that the military branch logo and the students' individual drawing can be seen) or staple onto a bulletin board.
*Included, there are also pennants that students can color to represent our flag.
*Hope your students enjoy creating pennants to honor our veterans!
