Product Description
This companion pack is intended to accompany the book, "Veterans: Heroes in Our Neighborhood" by Valerie Pfundstein. It can be used to target the following skills:

* Vocabulary
* Regular past tense verbs
* Irregular past tense verbs
* Third person singular verbs
* Subjective pronouns
* Synonyms
* Associations
* Describing with attributes
* Making a prediction

To prepare: Print, laminate and cut out the flashcards on pages 3-4 and 15-18. Print pages 5-14 and 19-20.

To use:
** (Vocabulary – pages 3-4) Place vocabulary word or definition cards on a flat surface and match with the appropriate definition or vocabulary word.
** (Vocabulary – pages 5-6) Write a sentence with each vocabulary word.
** (Regular past tense verbs, Irregular past tense verbs, Third person singular verbs – pages 7-10) Read each sentence and fill in the blank with the appropriate word. Then, re-read the sentences.
** (Subjective pronouns – pages 11-13) Read each sentence and decide on the correct word to replace the underlined word(s) in the sentence. Draw a line from the sentence to the appropriate subjective pronoun.
** (Synonyms – page 14) Read each sentence and fill in the blank with the appropriate synonym. Then, re-read the sentences.
** (Synonyms – pages 15-16) Play a memory game with synonym flashcards. Specific game instructions are included on page 16.
** (Associations – pages 17-18) Place all cards face up on a flat surface. Students take turns selecting one card and finding an item that “goes with” the original card. Students can also explain how the cards go together.
** (Describing with attributes – page 19) – Write words to describe veterans on the spaces provided.
** (Making a prediction – page 20) Make a prediction based off the scenario provided.

The book, "Veterans: Heroes in Our Neighborhood" by Valerie Pfundstein, is not included in this product.
