Vice News produces a weekly news episode, documentary style, each featuring two specific topics relevant to society today. They focus on technology, the environment, health, global conflict, economics, social issues and more. Watching the series and completing the extension projects provided in this bundle is a great way for students to stay informed, problem solve solutions to global issues, and stay connected to their local and global communities.
This bundle includes a worksheet and project-based learning extension ideas for 21 episodes. There are enough episodes to view one each week with your class for over a semester, or once a day for a little over a month. The teaching duration is flexible depending on how you make use of each lesson. Episodes are all around 15 minutes. Watching the episode with class discussion takes 30-45 minutes depending on depth of conversation. The length of extension activities varies depending on which ones you choose to use. Videos are available via Vice on Youtube. Links are provided.
I did not include every episode of the Vice News series in this bundle. I chose the 21 specific episodes that I did because I have found them to be interesting to my students AND they continue to be relevant, even those that aired several years ago. This bundle mostly includes episodes from seasons 1-4.
Warning: Vice content is for a mature audience. I recommend using this product for high school students, college students, and adults.
Episodes included in bundle:
City of Lost Children
Countdown to Extinction
Egyptian Tomb Raiders
Enemy at the Gate
Greenland is Melting
India’s Water Crisis
Indonesia’s Palm Bomb
Our Rising Oceans
The End of Polio
The Pacification of Rio
