To learn about the duties, responsibilities, and importance of the office of Vice President of the United States.
1 class period
In this lesson, the class is divided into two teams that compete in three fun games, all in the same format.
To begin Game 1, students read a section entitled Importance of the Vice Presidency. Papers are then turned face down underneath desks and seven questions will be asked. These questions have different point values as follows:
1 - 10 points
2 - 20 points
3 - 30 points
4 - 40 points
5 - 40 points
6 - 50 points
7 - 50 points
When question 1 is asked, the first person to raise their hand is called on. If their answer is correct, 10 points are scored. If incorrect, or the person called on does not respond immediately, someone from the other team can answer.
If members of both teams raise their hands at the same time, the team that is behind can answer. If the teams are tied, a coin flip determines who answers.
The team scoring the most points from the seven questions wins Game 1. Games 2 and 3 will be played in the same way.
