This Pigeon Drawing and Watercolor painting project was inspired by The Pigeon series of books, written and illustrated by Mo Willems.
Designed with beginners in mind, this project is perfectly suited for children in grades 1-3. By following along with me, step-by-step, your students will learn the skills to create masterpieces of their own long after the project is complete.
There are four parts to this art project:
Part 1: Explanation of What We Will Create and Supplies Needed for This Project
Part 2: Draw a Pigeon With Pencil
Part 3: Outline the Pigeon With Oil Pastel or Crayon and Create the Background
Part 4: Watercolor Paint the Pigeon and the Background
The process used to teach this project is a kid-tested, step-by-step method that will both inspire and delight your students into drawing and painting action! This process involves observing, following instructions, and creating until each student is happy with the desired outcome.
Students will learn basic drawing and watercolor painting techniques and apply these techniques to complete this project.
