Did you know there are Zebras in Bolivia? Me neither, but there are! In this half-sheet activity, students watch a new clip of about 2 1/2 minutes regarding the Bolivian program of paying youth to dress up as Zebras and stop traffic to save pedestrians from getting smooshed. It is an uplifting video, and the worksheet is broken into three parts:
Predicting: reading the title and guessing what the video will be about
Comprehension: answering questions on the video, with a word bank and one prompt using the subjunctive.
Cultural connections: Students think about the video and compare it to their own community.
This is a fun activity, and it makes you feel good watching it. The free preview has one question, but also provide the link to the video if you are interested in previewing. I use it with the Realidades 3 chapter 3, as it has the subjunctive and one question about emotion, but it works well in any curriculum.
