This is a video guide for a Black Mirror episode "Arkangel," in which a mother surveys her daughter through a microchip, which also enables her to block images and experiences that cause stress to her daughter in real time.
I show this episode (available on Netflix) as a manner to use hypothetical and the conditional which builds on our practice with the future tense. In addition, the idea of parental control vs. child freedom is something about which my students have a lot to say.
The worksheet has around 20 questions, with a mix of comprehension questions in the present, and hypothetical questions in bold, with the use of the conditional. (See some samples in the preview document). I also have pre-video questions based on a Benjamin Franklin quote.
All questions and responses are in Spanish, though the program itself is in English (I put on Spanish subtitles). PLEASE PREVIEW THE VIDEO. There is a section (5 seconds) with graphic language half way through that I prefer to mute.
I accompany this video with a 15 minute debate in Spanish regarding the hypothetical question: "Si pudieras bloquear experiencias negativas para sus ninos, lo harias o no? Por que seria un buena/ mala idea?"
