The sample video for this product applies the Area Model to help students learn why 9(n +5) equals 9n + 9x5, where 9(n + 5) represent the area of the rectangle using the "length x width" formula and 9n + 9x5 represents the area of the rectangle using the Additive Property of Area. The Area Model is demonstrated for several examples, and students can use patterns (an accessible method for discovering and learning new concepts) to apply the Distributive Property of Multiplication Over Addition.
