Students will research an assigned topic related to the Vietnam War (weapons, turning points, etc.) and teach it to the class. This is not a presentation; rather, students are teaching the class about a particular topic to prepare them to read The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien. Students are to be creative and memorable, but professional and informative. As historical research there is a high potential for overlap. Students must conference with other groups, not only to gain more insight on their topic and the whole picture of the Vietnam War, but also to avoid such overlap.
Projects include the following:
- An annotated bibliography of at least three sources composed of academic articles (with instructions for doing so)
- A 5-minute presentation
- A handout for the rest of the class to follow along
Instructions, 14 research topics, a thorough, Common Core aligned rubric for each component of the project
