Students review the Vietnam War by completing a timeline activity and answering 4 questions. There are 26 items for students to place on the timeline. Students must classify each item according to a system detailed in the instructions, they have one task to complete for 6 items of their choice, and another task to complete for 4 other items of their choice. All instructions are provided in the handout. There are arrows in the first two lines of the timeline showing students the direction to fill out the pieces in. This could work for a sub! Answers are provided where appropriate. This is appropriate for US History or World History.
Sample timeline items and questions include:
--Ho Chi Minh trail established
--Operation Rolling Thunder ends
--Vietnam is divided into North and South
--Nixon approves Operation Menu
--Massive South Vietnamese casualties at Binh Gia
--How was the Vietnam War different from other wars up to this point in time and why?
--Explain 3 different mentalities that a 20 year old boy could have had in 1967 regarding the war and his involvement in it, or lack thereof. What about the thoughts of a 20 year old girl?
