Have you ever struggled with teaching viewing in your class? This resource offers a new slant to meeting those viewing outcomes in all our curriculums. How do we assist students in understanding the features and gain meaning from what that visual text offers?
This resource will work with any curriculum and any visual text you choose. It contains task cards to engage the students and get them "Thinking about it".
There are 33 task cards each containing a specific question geared toward text features of visual texts. These can be placed in a container for the students to randomly choose their focus area before, during and after viewing. They can also serve as the teacher questions during guided viewing . These questions can also be used as assessments during student conferences.
There are 33 posters of the guided questions and a bunting banner to create a focus wall in your class as a visual reminder to students of questions to ask themselves as they continue to develop their visual literacy and ability to read visual components of informational texts.
The title of the Focus Wall is THINK ABOUT IT and a sample of the bunting banner can be seen on the cover of the resource.
