‘Virginia Regions Unit’ allows students to explore the regions of Virginia (including the products and industries) through several hands-on activities. EVERYTHING needed to teach a Virginia Studies unit on the regions of Virginia can be found here! Topics covered include Virginia’s 5 regions, 5 bordering states, major water features, important cities, products, and industries. Virginia SOLs covered include:

This 2 week, 69-page unit includes:
+ 18 pages of student notes with comprehension questions: 18 pages of interactive notes with pictures and comprehension questions to review everything students need to know about Virginia’s geography, products, and regions. Notes are double spaced so that students have room to add additional notes, definitions, and pictures as needed.
+ 5 worksheets
+ 2 hands-on project: one project for students to complete while studying Virginia’s geography and another project for students to complete while studying Virginia’s products and industries. Both projects require creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork.

+ 1 parent letter: informing families of what is being studied and asking for volunteers to assist with a class project. (Volunteers aren’t a necessity for completing the projects but it is always helpful to have an extra adult in the classroom!)
