This reading comprehension passage and question set about the Piedmont region will definitely add some extra spark to your Virginia Regions unit! The passage includes all of the key vocabulary from the SOLs about the Piedmont region, including why cities grew along the Fall Line. Students will enjoy the easy to read maps and helpful picture aids that highlight the key features of this region. After reading, students can demonstrate what they learned by answering questions about the text. There is a healthy mix of multiple choice and open-ended question types. This set also includes a handy geography study guide page followed by a practice review page, which you could use as an exit ticket, homework or quiz.
Included in this set:
Reading comprehension about the Geographic Features of the Piedmont Region (1 page)
Questions about the Piedmont Region (2 pages)
Study Guide with border states, Eastern Shore, rivers and cities on them, other water features- including GDS and LD and relative location (1 page)
Geography practice page (1 page)
* I know that some teachers like to include VS10 along with VS2a,b,c when teaching about the 5 regions, however the 2015 Framework no longer lists out products and industries by region. The wording is much more broad to Virginia in general. I plan to create a separate lesson for just VS10b,c. Once I have all of the lessons for VS2a,b,c and VS10b,c completed, I will offer them in a bundle. If you are still teaching to the 2008 standards and would like products and industries included with the regions lessons, just send me an email, and I can add them in special for you!
If you enjoy this set, please look for my lessons on the Tidewater and VS 2a,c Border States and Relative Location! Remember to come back and give a review if you and your students found this product helpful! Check back for more Virginia Studies products in the coming weeks or email me if you have any specific reading passages or reviews and tests you would like for me to create!
