****UPDATED FOR 2016!****
Note: This is the crossover year for the new SOLs. Teachers are expected to teach both the old and new SOLs! The Spring SOL test will include information from both versions of the SOLS, however, the new material will be only in the form of field test questions. I'm updating all of my materials to ADD the new information this year, and NEXT summer (2017), I will delete the parts of the SOLs that have been deleted from the new version.
This 24 page interactive notebook covers the entire Virginia Studies Revolutionary War Unit. This interactive notebook contains:
*Student notebook organizer page
*3 pages of student notes - includes all SOL information!
*Graphic Organizers for students to glue into their notebooks on these subjects:
-Virginia as one of the 13 British Colonies
-The French & Indian War
-Disagreement in Authority & Taxes in the Colonies
-Viewpoints of British vs. Colonists
-Declaration of Independence
-Battle of Great Bridge
-Virginia's capital moves from Williamsburg to Richmond
-Virginians in the Revolutionary War (Women, Africans, Indians)
-The Marquis de Lafayette
-James Armistead Lafayette
-The Treaty of Paris
-The End of the Revolutionary War
The student pages are graphic organizer oriented, which is a great preparation for the SOL test! My students LOVE these notes and their success on the VA SOL test shows me the effectiveness of this program!
The order of the notes follows my SMARTboard lesson on the same topic which is also listed here on Teachers Pay Teachers. I teach a topic through SMARTboard and then pause to do the notebook. We read through & highlight notes and follow up with student practice on the graphic organizers. I use a three ring binder with tabs for each unit - kids glue their graphic organizers onto loose leaf notebook paper. The notebook would also work for a composition notebook.
Like this notebook? I also offer a bundle on TPT of all 9 VA Studies Units - buy them together and save 26%!
