Do you want to begin Socratic Seminar in your elementary classroom right away? Even virtually? This product will get you started! In this product, I will offer a book suggestion for six different stories. I have linked to www.storylineonline.net (including a QR code for your convenient link directly to that story)The students can read online and join your Zoom or whatever method you use to meet with your students and from there you can conduct your Socratic Seminar! Of course you can find copies of these stories in your library, or you may already own a copy!

There are about four to six Socratic-style questions for each story. Usually, four questions is plenty for a Socratic Seminar, but there are blank question cards at the end of each set for you to add your own “spin” or allow students to write their own questions.

This product would take you through about six weeks of Socratic training for your students. I highly recommend doing about one a week and these stories are the perfect "Socratic training" stories. They are full of heart and will inspire great conversations among your language arts students. You, as a teacher, will get a feel for the types of questions you could create for great conversations. Ultimately, you will want your students to write their own questions, but a period of modeling the types of questions is very important. I hope you find this very useful and practical.

I am providing links to a beginning product for Socratic Seminar. This product and the training product will be a great start for you and your students!

I also have a free rubric you may want to download! https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Socratic-Seminar-Rubric-3760727
