Here is a unit that ties science, language arts, math, and technology, and higher level thinking into a fun-filled world adventure for you and your students. I used the book, "Amelia's Fantastic Flight" as the inspiration for this unit. Students will visit all the places Amelia visited in the book. They will look at animal habitats and adaptations. Students will keep track of the miles they travel, the animals, birds, famous landmarks, and countries they see in this super cute journal.
But the fun doesn't stop there! They will plan a voyage to their favorite country and calculate the cost of that trip using the Internet. They will compare and contrast different environments, solve problems, expand vocabulary, and discuss conservation.
Looking at the examples of Common Core standards and assessments on the internet, I tailored several extension activities to fit those standards.
This project is made to fit your students' needs and can easily be tailored to fit 2nd-6th grade.
