Looking for a way to reinforce vocabulary for places in town while exposing your students to authentic materials and real French towns? This webquest activity is perfect. Each student selects a different Francophone city and must find and take screen capture "photos" of each required place. Then, students must compare and contrast their city to the cities they see here in America.
This activity is perfect for a first class presentation for French 1/Novice-level students and familiarizes the students with what French cities actually look like.
The original handout includes the following places, but the word document can be customized to suit any vocabulary list:
l’Hôtel de Ville
l’Office de Tourisme
3 interesting other places
a slide of similarities and differences
In my class, I give students 2 class periods to compile pictures and information and then a few out of class days before having them present their presentations to the class.
This file includes both a PDF and editable word document of the web quest as well as a teacher grading rubric.
