How can an art teacher facilitate a completely student-run art critique? What tools do students need in order to have a worthwhile critique, full of academic language and constructive feedback?
This purchase includes:
- A short lesson plan explaining a classroom routine that gives students ownership of the critique.
- A One-Page handout of critique sentence starters for students.
- One sample of a content-specific 'word bank' that accommodates this routine for students who are ELL.
This process can be used for whole-class or small group critiques. I recommend printing large posters of the sentence starters, as well as placing single page copies around the room. I recommend distributing the word-bank quarter sheet to students as needed.
