This is a really open-ended drawing project that I use with my senior grades to push their creativity to the limit!
It asks them to create an INhuman drawing where they have the human body and transform it with something else.
I give them some basic ideas to run with: human into animal / human into machine / human into nature etc.
The project handout walks them through the creative process:
-First they work on their sketchbooks - they take notes, sketch, create a material list, and gather source images
-Then they create their final drawing (using whatever added materials on any surface)
-The final step is an artist statement...by senior grades, they usually have practiced it before. If not, there's loads of templates and resources online for them to research
Also included is a page of exemplars (you can print this or just project it to get them excited) and a rubric to make marking easy for you.
These turn out awesome!! Students always comment on how they love how open it is - yet it's not totally intimidating because they have the human figure as a basis to start from.
Enjoy! These make for a wicked art display / art show once finished.
