This is the intro Powerpoint that I use for any portraiture project.
It includes loads of examples of portraiture from throughout art history - to get students inspired and looking at all different styles and techniques.
It is used for a MIXED MEDIA project - but could easily be applied for any portrait project you're doing with your class (since the examples cover many art mediums)
-an intro to major portrait artists from art history (I picked ones with differing styles to really push students interest and make them question different styles)
-examples of mixed media portraits
-tips on how to maintain SOME realism and accuracy within their own portraits
It's very image-heavy with some guiding questions along the way to help spark discussion amongst your class.
This is meant to be a part of the initial part of the creation process - inspiring, imagining, and generating ideas. I find this helps them get excited!
