This resource is geared towards Arts Ed teachers in Canada, though the content is valuable and could be altered to suit the needs of any teacher.
These lessons discuss the idea of symbolism and the connections between monuments, symbolism, social issues and the idea of Remembrance. For my fellow Canadians, these lessons culminate with the students creating Remembrance-themed posters for the Legion's annual contest. For those of you who are not Canadian, this resource still has great value for your classroom!
This resource includes:
-Detailed lesson plans that end with an art project allowing you to use this resource for several Arts Ed classes (Saskatchewan outcomes are also included for each lesson.)
-A brief powerpoint to use for a game described within
-Links to pictures and videos to help demonstrate symbolism and remembrance
Use this resource to introduce your students to the idea of symbolism, how art can be used as a form of remembrance, or as a lead-up to the Legion's Remembrance Day poster contest.
**For those of you who purchased my Visual Art 8: Introduction To Social Issues, these are the next set of lessons!
