This 3rd, 4th and/or 5th Grade Busy Artist Book can be used as either the students’ annual sketchbook or as a supplement for their regular sketchbook. The Busy Artist Book is great for classes where the lesson ends early and you need time to fill or if a class arrives before you have had enough time to adequately prepare and need to keep them busy for a few minutes.
This busy book has 40 prompts, based on an average 36 week (180 day) American school year. Based on the average of seeing most Elementary students once a week for their Art Class, you could technically use this busy book for every class with still a few prompts left over.
The prompts cover color and color mixing, shapes, lines, value, texture, portraits and human figure proportion, genre sorting, size relationships, foreground, middle ground and background, light sources, designs and patterns, paper weaving, critical thinking exercises and writing exercises. Some exercises repeat from the previous grade level's busy book to reiterate important core concepts.
Some of these prompts require extra materials. Do not rely on students to be self-starters as some students may require more direct instruction than others. Prompts are not necessarily meant to go in order but should be used as support for your lessons that you teach throughout the year.
This book is set-up in such a way to make double-sided printing easier.
