These "cards" are used to help students understand why they like or dislike certain works of art based on their ideas about art and beauty (aesthetics). What I do is cut these out and make a several sets. I then place several works of art around the art room. Each art work has a picture of a thumbs up and a picture of a thumbs down. Students place one of the belief cards under the thumbs up or thumbs down to help them understand why they are making that judgement in the art criticism process.
