Every year I make a point to introduce my students to as many new artists as possible. One key tool in doing this, keeping my students organized and accountable, is my Artists to Know table worksheet.
Every Tuesday is new artist day. At the beginning of class I show a PowerPoint of a new artist. I include basic biographical information, slides of their work, and we discuss them as a class. Often I try to align the artist's work with the current project my students are working on.
This worksheet is a simple design, two columns to write the artist name and a few notes about their work. I have students turn in the worksheet at the end of the year and include it as part of their final participation grade. It can also be used with a final exam at the end of the semester to test students' knowledge about the artists.
This includes a two page PDF (to maintain specialize fonts) and Word .DOCX (easy to edit).
